Privacy

This notice explains what information HomingPigeons.com collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. It was last updated on 18 October 2026.

Who we are

HomingPigeons.com is an independent guide to homing and racing pigeons, run by Douglas Wilson. For anything about your information, email hello@homingpigeons.com.

If you just read the site

You can read every guide without an account and without giving us any details. The site does not use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

Like any website, our hosting provider records basic technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type and the page asked for. This is used to keep the site running and secure, and is deleted automatically after a short period.

If you sign up for emails

When you sign up, we keep:

  • your email address
  • your first name, if you give it
  • whether you keep pigeons, and your country, if you tell us
  • a record of your consent: the wording you agreed to, when you agreed, and when you confirmed by email

We use this only to send you emails from HomingPigeons.com: new guides and occasional updates about the site. Knowing whether you keep pigeons and where you live lets us send things that are relevant to you.

We rely on your consent. You can withdraw it at any time with the link at the bottom of every email, or by emailing us.

We never sell, rent or share the list with anyone else, including sponsors or partners.

If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you straight away. We keep a short record that you unsubscribed so we do not email you again by mistake. If you would rather we deleted everything, ask us and we will.

Members who joined before October 2026

If you joined HomingPigeons.com on our previous website, your email address, name (if you gave one) and the date you joined were moved to this site so that you keep receiving the emails you signed up for. Nothing else was moved.

Who handles your information for us

We use a small number of companies to run the site. They process information only on our instructions:

  • Vercel: hosts the website and stores images.
  • Neon: hosts the database where sign-ups are stored.
  • Resend: sends our emails.

Some of these companies store or process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, it is covered by their data processing terms, which include the safeguards UK data protection law requires for international transfers.

Cookies

The public site does not set cookies. If you are one of our editors and log in to the editing screens, a cookie keeps you logged in. That is the only cookie we use.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you and send you a copy
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete your information
  • stop sending you emails

Email hello@homingpigeons.com and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Changes

If we change how we use information, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects people on our email list, we will tell them by email first.
